Field Trip: Tide Pool Exploration

  • White Point Beach (Park down the hill by the water - see directions in description) United States (map)

πŸ¦€ Come and join us at the amazing White Point/Royal Palms Beach Tide Pools in San Pedro! Tide Pools form when the tide goes out and water gets trapped in between the rocks. Walking around the Tide Pools is a wonderful way to study marine life living in the pools. We will hopefully see crabs, hermit crabs, limpets, barnacles, sea hares, urchins, and sometimes even octopuses!

Meet at 11 am at White Point Beach. Explore the Tide Pools together from 11.15 am-1.30 pm.

Directions:

When arriving at White Point Beach, make sure to drive down the hill to the water. Above the water is a park with great views that you can visit. Here, you also find restrooms  (this is also where your GPS will take you if you type in White Point Beach). However, there is plenty of parking down the hill for the tide pools, and it’s easier to access them. Parking is $7.

Schedule

11:15 am – Walk to the tide pools with Dr. Charlotte who will teach us about marine life.
