Once Upon a Time: A Trellis Prom

by E.S.

Trellis is excited to announce its first ever Prom being held on March 20th! This formal will be for teens aged 14+ and will be held at St George’s Episcopal Church from 6-9 pm.

The theme of this enchanting prom is “Once Upon a Time,” with lots of royalty and castles. There will be fairytale themed mocktails and an Italian buffet with gluten-free and vegetarian options.

Early bird ticket sales have passed, but you can still purchase a ticket for $80.

Students Rayden and Leigh are the main organizers of the dance with other students such as Finn, Shay, August, and Heidi also helping out.

“We saw that there was not currently a prom for homeschool high schoolers planned in our area and we wanted to fill that void,” said Rayden, one of the teens planning the event.

We’ve heard from a few Trellis high school students that they are looking forward to the prom.

“[I am excited] to hang out and eat food,” said Holden, a Trellis high school student attending the event.

Of course, not all Trellis students are able to go to the prom.

“[I’m] sad,” Luzella B. a middle school Trellis student said. “But not sad because there’s two proms. I can go to the kid one, so I guess it's fine.”

As Luzella mentioned, in addition to the high school prom, there will be a spring dance being held on April 24. This dance will be 10+, so everyone at Trellis will have the chance to attend.
