Comparing Apple emojis to Google emojis
By P Bellows
In this article, we will compare Apple emojis to Google emojis.
😀 Grinning Face Emoji
Apple
Apple’s grinning face is simple, showing eyes and a mouth with shadows. The sides of the image have a shadow as well, with a larger shadow on the bottom.
Google
On Google, the grinning face has a darker eye and mouth color, and no shadows around the eyes or mouth. There is, however, a shadow around the face. There are also two lighter dots inside the eyes and a tongue inside the mouth.
Many Apple emojis are more detailed than Google emojis. Here’s an example.
📰 Newspaper Emoji
Apple
On Apple, the top of the newspaper has the text “The Apple Times” and the eagle emoji 🦅. The cover photo shows the volcano emoji 🌋. The headline on the front page reads “Top News”. The newspaper also appears to be rolled up at the bottom, since there is a large shadow at the bottom of the newspaper, indicating it is rolled up.
Google
On Google, the top of the newspaper has the globe with meridians emoji 🌐, and the cover photo shows the world map emoji 🗺️. None of the text in the newspaper is readable, not even the top. However, there is a shadow at the bottom of the newspaper and more paper behind the front page, indicating the newspaper is rolled up.
Many Apple emojis reflect Apple-made products. Here’s an example.
🧑💻 Technologist Emoji
Apple
Apple’s emoji depicts the person emoji 🧑at the computer. I won’t go into detail about the person, but I will point out the person’s eyes, nose, hair, and shoulders are visible. The computer’s Apple logo indicates that it is a MacBook, which is a laptop made by Apple.
Google
Google’s emoji also depicts the person emoji 🧑’s eyes, nose, hair, and shoulders. The strange part about this emoji is that the computer has a slightly smiling face 🙂 on it instead of a Google Chrome logo. A Google Chrome logo could indicate the computer is a Chromebook, which is a laptop made by Google.
The Travel and Places emojis have more differences across Apple and Google than other emojis. Here’s an example.
🚆 Train Emoji
Apple
On Apple, the train emoji has a streamlined windshield, a blue stripe, and headlights and a small grille. It also has shadows on the sides and a darker section on the top. The train itself appears to be a futuristic electric train.
Google
On Google, the train emoji has a blue top part and gray bottom part with some shadows, making it look similar to an Amtrak GE Genesis. There are 2 pairs of lights on the front and 2 windows on the front.
