Student Review: Stellar Drinks at Constellation Coffee
Article by The Trellis Occasional Staff
A warm drink for a chilly morning, or an iced latte for the midday heat, it can be agreed that the drinks found at a coffee shop are necessary for all occasions.
Constellation Coffee is a delightful coffee shop located about half a mile from Trellis, so it allows you to have some time to enjoy your drink on the walk back. It is very small and cozy, with some seating. We recommend you bring around ten dollars, depending on what you want, and give yourself 40 minutes for the whole outing, just in case.
They host a wide variety of drinks! Classic coffees, like an americano, to things like mochas and specials like the ‘purple rain’, which is made out of butterfly pea flower tea, and when citrus is added, turns into a vibrant purple shade. Of course, they offer different milk options if you don't want or can’t have whole milk, however that does cost an extra 50 cents. You can also get a Matcha if you want caffeine but no coffee. They also have a selection of delicious teas, iced and hot.
They also have lots of treats and baked goods! They have chocolate, almond, and plain pastries as well as cookies and delicious donuts, not to mention many other bakery items!
A few Trellis students, including some of the Trellis Occasional staff, went and tried a few of their drinks and pastries including their wild berry hibiscus tea, citrus green tea, a croissant, a hot chocolate, and two iced mochas, regular and almond milk decaf.
The mochas had an excellent amount of sweetness to coffee ratio. The hot chocolate was “a very comfortable temperature where you don't burn your taste buds off, so you can enjoy it immediately” according to S.H, one of our staff. E.S said the iced citrus green tea was “very herbal-y and citrusy, with a little lemongrass and ginger”. A friend who went with us also said that “the hibiscus tea was very sweet, but delicious”. The matcha is also a good strength in flavor, with, of course, the option of getting it iced, hot, and sweetened.
Overall, according to the Trellis Occasional staff and a couple friends, it was an 8/10! It had pretty decent prices, and even though it wasn't anything to die for, it certainly was enjoyable. The walk, too, was a nice time to chat, get some exercise, and enjoy your drink. For those at Trellis, you should know that the walk is still manageable to eat your lunch, get a drink and get back to class on time. Just note to leave towards the beginning of lunch hour!
